Dickeys Landing

Dickey's Landing

Dickeys Landing once a important landing for trade boats is now considered the area name for the Headland off Kauri Road.

Metal for Awhitu roads was shipped here. And one assumes gum and Kauri where shipped off in their heyday.

The Awhitu Wharf was built on the end of the headland in 1877 and lasted for about 70 years.

When roads improved,  the need for the wharf and  landing diminished.
